At Phagans School of Hair Design, we believe in teaching our students skills that will help prepare them for success in the beauty industry. With the growing popularity of eyelash extensions, we know what an important skill it is for our students to learn! Our hair design and esthetics students have the opportunity to learn to become licensed eyelash extension technicians as part of their programs.
Lash extensions are one of the latest trends in the beauty industry, and their popularity just keeps on growing! Luscious lashes are in, and more and more people are getting extensions. Many licensed cosmetologists and estheticians find that this is the best …

Want to know what our students have been up to
We always recommend that our students get connected with their potential clients through social media and blogging before they graduate so they can form a relationship with their future customers. There is an opportunity to build clientele before they graduate, and take that clientele base with them as they move into the field. If you are a client of Phagans School of Hair Design we encourage you to ask your student if they are participating in social media or have a blog. If you are a student, we have compiled some wonderful examples of beauty blogs to inspire you. Build a fan base, start blogging and posting to social media!

It’s February and love is in the air! I see red hearts and flowers everywhere I go. At Phagans we are celebrating the “love” month by reminding ourselves to be kind and loving to everyone we see.
My family and friends are always at the top of my list. And of course our wonderful, amazing students! I run into our students everywhere I go. I love seeing our alumni! This week I saw Lindsay and Angela, who is developing her own fashion show! I am so proud of all of them. And of course, our current students are so impressive! A special shout out goes to Matthew Ames from our Northeast Campus and all the other great students …

We’ve decided to change up our newsletter to provide information in a way that coincides with our busy daily lives. Each month I will provide insight and keep you updated on what is new in our industry, the achievements of our students, and the successes of our graduates. You can feel the excitement on the clinic floor as many of our senior students are preparing for their final senior exams and completing their required lab operations and preparing to take their state board exams. This is an exciting time for our senior …

Phagans student Caitlin Tischer has been getting some press recently from the likes of Marie Claire, Brazil. The senior, who goes by Katana Fatale online, has 15 weeks before she graduates and is planning to become an esthetician – a skin guru. In the meantime, the actress, model, and singer has found time to create an influential fashion blog on Tumblr, a hobby she tells Marie Claire came by accident. She simply wanted to show her confidence regarding fashion and plus-size women, she told the publication.
Caitlin enjoys school and says it allows her to re-evaluate herself and be introspective about her career. For students who plan to attend beauty school, she offers this advice: “Focus on …

In many ways 2013 for Phagans was a year that allowed us to catch our breath. We have settled in to our new location at Clackamas Town Center, did a little remodeling of our Lloyd Center location, became even more engaged with our community, and spent the year growing the rolls of our alumni.
This year also was the 65th Anniversary of Phagans, so we spent the year honoring founder Wilma Lee Phagans Harrington with a number of events, prizes, and goody bags for customers.
Among our schools’ biggest accomplishments this year was both locations passed their 6-year accreditations “without limitations”, which in our world means with flying colors! I’m very grateful and proud of our staff for helping us achieve this high honor and carry on …
