It was an exciting December for us, made even more so because during the entire month we held our Second Annual Beauty Drive.
Throughout the month, any client who donated a new, unwrapped toy at either the Lloyd Center or Clackamas Town Center Phagans location saved 50% on their salon services. Clients who donate will also be entered into a drawing for a holiday gift bag filled with products from Joico, which sponsored the event.
In the end Portland firefighters from Station 13 had to tote away 12 huge bags of toys for donation to their Toy and Joy program. Each year, the Toy and Joy program ensures that more than 12,000 children in the Portland area are not forgotten by Santa.
For Phagans Executive Director Lea Turner, this was was a chance for the Phagans community to team up for a great cause. “I’m really proud of everyone who participated in making this year’s drive so successful,” she said. “Our clients, students, and staff really did a wonderful job of promoting this cause and it really showed in the results. We’re going to make this even bigger next year.”
We also helped distribute gift certificates to a number of location charities, including Clackamas Women’s Shelter, Foster Family Care Network, Maple Star Foster Care, Morrison Child and Family Services, the Boys and Girls Aid Society, The Salvation Army, the Men’s Rescue Mission and the Veteran’s Administration. The certificates were good for free children’s haircuts and free manicures/pedicures for guardians.
