Phagans Gives Black Parent Initiative Women Day of Pampering

A handful of women from Portland nonprofit Black Parent Initiative got complimentary manicures and pedicures at Phagans for Valentine’s Day. The goal of Black Parent Initiative is to inspire and mobilize African American parents to ensure their children achieve educational excellence. Phagans Success Story – Former Student Opens Her First Portland Salon

When Heidi Aldana worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant one of her favorite parts of the job was working on patients’ hair and makeup.

A study by the University of Virginia psychologist, Dr. James Coan, showed that holding hands can make you feel more relaxed and happy by actually reducing activity in the stress response area of the brain.
